“Serious People Tackling Serious Issues” |
|
Our program began in IRC - with net-savvy Guardian Angels providing assistance to victims of stalking in chatrooms. When law enforcement officers began volunteering just to receive training, we created online classes for them in computer forensics and tracing and tracking online.
With the increased number of inexperienced users online, we realized the threat that their unprotected computers posed to them and their communities. To help them along, we created online resources directed to novice 'netizens', covering everything from net lingo to firewall installation.
As a new century began, Cyberangels reached out to parents and children, providing materials designed to empower parents so that they could effectively parent their online children.
More recently, we have taken our programs offline - into schools and libraries. As part of our "Teaching the Teachers" initiative, we offer comprehensive strategies that can be put in place to protect the staff, students and the physical resources of the school from some of the risks related to Internet use. |
