Seminars for Parents
We offer a two-hour seminar for parents covering the use of filtering and blocking software, basic safety precautions for home computers, and information about how parents can be actively involved in their child's Internet use. With this program, we include a resource packet of information useful to parents and caregivers.

Online Classes
CyberAngels offers online classes in many topics, including interactive tutorials and classes (on topics as diverse as firewalls, anti-virus programs, filtering & blocking software, and basic use of e-mail and browsers). These are available free to the public, and help users to expand on the knowledge gained at the seminars, and begin to put that knowledge to practical use.

Programs for Children
For middle school students we have a one-hour presentation that covers Internet safety principles, ethical use of the Internet, and how to handle difficult situations online. Handouts for the children to take home include a resource packet for their own use, parent and child usage agreements for the home, and a packet of information for their parents.

Internet Safety Seminar for Educators
"Everyone must act to secure their parts of cyberspace". President Bush's National Strategy to Secure Cyberspace states that we are now a nation fully dependent on cyberspace and that "control of essential processes in manufacturing, utilities, banking, and communications has shifted to networked computers." It is essential that today's youth be adequately prepared to work in such an environment , and that they understand security risks that affect not only their own personal safety and that of the school, but also the nation at large.

As professional educators it is important that we recognize the Internet as an invaluable educational resource. This sophisticated tool requires specific skills to ensure that the experiences of children online are healthy and positive. While we encourage the education and participation of parents, we realize that ultimately it will be the schools who provide students with the skills they will need to compete and work online.

We offer comprehensive strategies that can be put in place district-wide, school-wide, and in individual classrooms to protect the physical resources of the school, the staff and the students from some of the risks related to Internet use.

Our Program Covers:

Advantages of Internet savvy for educators and students Including lessons on effective use as a research tool, communication tool and as a resource to encourage real life skills such as job hunting, skill building, and informed consumerism.

Risk Factors of Internet Use in Schools Including online predators, legal and financial, exposure to inappropriate material, privacy issues, and use of the Internet to bully or harass.

Full Curricula that teachers can use to teach Internet safety to the middle school child Includes handouts, classroom activities, and a CD with interactive games and Internet safety materials.
